The Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal Center in Battle Creek, Michigan, began as the Western Health Reform Institute. Over the years, it has transformed from a sanitarium to a military hospital and now a federal office complex. It primarily supports the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) and its divisions, including DLA Disposition Services, Defense Logistics Information Services (DLIS), and DLA Installation Management. These agencies collaboratively offer global support to warfighters, manage logistics data, and provide safety, security, and facility management services.
The center, spread across 24 acres with 22 buildings, celebrates the legacy of U.S. senators Philip Hart, Bob Dole, and Daniel Inouye. The facility treated those senators during WWII. Recognized on the National Register of Historic Places, the center is integral to the Battle Creek community, serving over 1,900 Department of Defense personnel.
