One of the base’s standout features is the Marine Corps Logistics Bases’ Maintenance Center, one of only two in the U.S. Additionally, the base boasts the only horse-mounted color guard in the Marine Corps.

    Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow History

    Established on December 28, 1942, as the Marine Corps Depot of Supplies, the base initially stored supplies for Fleet Marine Forces during WWII. Its role expanded in March 1961 with the inception of the Depot Maintenance Activity. Renamed the Marine Corps Logistics Base in November 1978, it now serves as an essential part of the logistics chain that arms and equips the Marine forces
