Naval Weapons Station Earle is located in Colts Neck, New Jersey in Monmouth County. The area is known for its orchards, horse farms, and scenery.
NWS Earle is surrounded by more than ten thousand acres, and it’s said that this area has some of the most beautiful views and landscapes of any Navy base in the country. History
Once the United States got involved in World War Two, certain strategic needs became clear fairly quickly. One such need? An ammunition depot to serve mission needs in the New York area, but safely tucked away from major cities and other densely populated areas.
It would take until 1943 to break ground on what would be known as Naval Ammunition Depot Earle. The facility was named after Rear Admiral Ralph Earle, who headed up the World War One-era Bureau of Ordnance.
The ammo depot would remain as such all the way until 1974 when it was redesignated as Naval Weapons Station Earle. That Weapons Station mission continues to this day; NWS Earle is also the homeport to Combat Logistics Squadron 2, USNS Supply, and USNS Arctic.

Applications for space on base in Navy Family Housing require a completed DD Form 1746 submitted to the Family Housing Welcome Center. You must attach a copy of your PCS orders with the application plus a current Emergency Data record.

In-town hotels are another option but you will need a certificate of non-availability from the Deer Run Lodging staff to claim such off-base lodging expenses on your travel voucher.
Reservations are possible 12 months in advance for active-duty servicemembers. Retirees and DoD civilians may book up to six months ahead of time. Call 732-866-2448 for information and directions.
