- Loss of appetite
- Fatigue
- Dizziness
- Difficulty sleeping
Denver is a major metropolitan area in Colorado, and like any big city, there is plenty of nightlife, outdoor recreation, and Major League sports–MLB fans will love seeing the Colorado Rockies, the Denver Broncos, and the Colorado Avalanche.
The Mile High City offers much in the way of the arts, live entertainment, and fine dining. The Denver Museum of Nature and Science is a great place for families and the Art District on Santa Fe is at the heart of the Denver art scene, featuring more than 30 studios and artist galleries. Live music is a big draw in Denver–don’t miss the Bluebird Theater and Live At Jacks.
Some 90-ish miles away in Colorado Springs there is outdoor adventuring to be had at the Garden Of The Gods, a registered National Landmark complete with trails, rock climbing, jeep tours, etc.
Sports fans and concertgoers looking for places to visit outside Denver will find plenty of live sports and performances there. Don’t overlook the Broadmoor World Arena! History buffs can’t go wrong with the Colorado Springs National Museum Of World War II Aviation, the Petersen Air And Space Museum, and the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum.
Inprocessing and Check-In
All PCSing troops and those arriving from recruiting school are directed to contact their gaining unit for specific instructions for check-in and inprocessing.
Services
The Denver Recruiting Battalion is in an 11-story office complex and features no services including healthcare (PCSing troops should call TRICARE to learn what coverage options are available for the Denver region), childcare, etc.

Dependent And Retiree ID Card Renewal, Replacement, New Issue
Those in need of ID card services will need to travel to one of the Colorado military bases close to Denver (Peterson AFB is approximately 90 miles away). Contact the base you plan to visit for ID card appointment procedures and requirements.
Housing
The unique nature of the Denver Recruiting Battalion includes no availability of military housing in the local area. PCSing troops should ask their sponsor about the most current housing options in the Denver area.
PCS and TDY Lodging
Due to the nature of the Denver Battalion, there are no military Temporary Lodging Facilities located within the Battalion HQ area itself. Contact your gaining command support staff for advice on how to arrange temporary lodging.
There are a number of military bases in the state, but depending on your needs you may find some or most of them too far away to realistically commute. The driving distance to Peterson AFB in Colorado Springs, for example, is over 90 miles.
Transportation
The usual ride-sharing services and commercial taxis are available from area airports depending on time of arrival, demand, etc. It’s best to coordinate with your sponsor about your arrival, especially if you are flying into Denver during peak rush hour times. Expect delays.
Vehicle Registration And Driver’s License
Denver law requires drivers to carry unexpired vehicle registration and proof of minimum insurance. If you are PCSing to the Denver area, remember that drivers registering to vote at the DMV after relocating to Colorado are ending their previous state residence becoming Colorado residents. You may be subject to vehicle taxes as a result of doing so.
